Author F.A.Q.
Do I need an agent?
Absolutely not! However, we won’t object to you having one, and your agent is welcome to submit to us as well. However, having or not having an agent will have no effect on whether or not we take your manuscript–all manuscripts are evaluated by our editors based on merit alone. We believe in free access to the publishing world.
Uh, is this a vanity press?
Again, that’s a no! You will never pay a dime to be published by us. That is a revolting practice, and we want no part of it.
How much will my royalties be?
Well, the short answer is: I can’t say.
The long answer is this:
Your compensation structure with Tir Na Nog Press will be different than anything you’ve seen come out of a traditional publishing company. All authors are brought on in the normal fashion–book contracts, advances, royalties. We can’t say what your specific royalty rate will be, as that is based on a number of factors. Your royalties will be based on gross, not net. So no recouping costs before you get paid.
However, once you’ve published with us for a bit(really, that timeline can be short or long, it’s up to you and your books!), we’ll evalutate your status in the company–at which point you can either elect to remain on a per book contract basis, or you can become a salaried author with Tir Na Nog Press. And yes, you’ll still receive royalties on top of your salary, however they will be at a lower rate.
Do you pay an advance?
We do! All authors that are on a per book contract with Tir Na Nog Press will receive an advance per book, and it won’t be pennies. However, salaried authors do not receive an advance per book.
